The PlayStation 4 has been free to use for more than two weeks now, thanks to an extensive PS4 service maintenance programme, but it is only due to come back online for maintenance on the PlayStation 4 Pro console this week.
This is due to the fact that PlayStation Plus membership and its annual subscription will be renewed for an additional year, so a PS4 Pro upgrade is not possible without a PSN subscription.
It is worth noting that PS4 owners will be able to use the PS4 as a console, and therefore the PS5 Pro is currently the only available console.
The PS4 will also come back into service for users who purchased the PS Vita last year, but its not available to use.
The PS4 is not supported by the PlayStation Network, so any PS4 game played online will not be playable on the PS Plus.
The PlayStation Plus service has been the subject of much debate since its launch, as many users have expressed frustration at not being able to play games on the platform.
As the service is free to access and offers access to PlayStation Plus, some users have complained that the PS3 and PS4 games were not playable.
